? New Year & New Beginnings ? Happy New Year everyone! A New Year often means setting resolutions. For many, these resolutions are set with the hope that some kind of a lifestyle change (usually a positive one) will be achieved. However, the slightly disappointing truth about New Years resolutions, according to Discover Happy Habits, is that only 46% of New Years resolutions are successful after 6 months. Depending on what your New Years resolution is, there are a few key ways to set a resolution and actually keep to it. For starters, it's important to set realistic goals and to keep those goals to a reasonable number (if you have more than one). Setting realistic goals helps with staying on course and prevents task overload that can lead to burnout. Next, make sure you're logging your progress. Tracking your progress is an important step to help ensure you don't lose motivation or sight of the end goal. Lastly, remember that commitment means sticking with a goal even after the initial feeling of excitement fades. No resolution has ever been achieved without "I don't really feel like doing this today" days. On those days, it's all about the attitude you bring to persevering past those feelings and gaining the second, third and fourth winds throughout your lifestyle change. While this doesn't spell good news for buyers, this change is long coming. Inflation is at an all time high affecting everything from rental prices to produce. To avoid a wage-price spiral, the Fed hopes that by slowing economic growth it will cool down the economy overall. Fine Nest buyers still waiting to purchase a home are encouraged to line up their finances before interest rates rise too far above the pandemic lows and their home affordability bracket changes. Sale prices are holding steady across the area, while everything from inventory to the number of closings continue to decline. The cold weather and holiday season have much to do with this slowdown. Now that the holidays are over, many are shifting back to their regular, pandemic adjusted, schedules.
